How does BOTOX® work?

BOTOX has been used for many years to disappear unsightly wrinkles and make your face appear smooth and uncreased. BOTOX contains a toxin created by the bacterium clostridium botulinum; there are other brands of BOTOX, but they are less known by name.

How Does the BOTOX Process Work?

BOTOX works by blocking signals that come from the nerves to the muscles. The injection stops the muscle from over-contracting, which can create the image of relaxed and faded wrinkles.

Many De Pere, WI patients employ BOTOX to work on their crow's feet around their eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and lines around the mouth.

How Does the BOTOX Treatment Work?

Dr. Chad Yenchesky is highly-skilled in applying this cosmetic and highly-sought cosmetic treatment. BOTOX is injected with an extremely fine needle in just a few minutes and doesn't need local anesthesia for pain. There may be a few seconds of minor discomfort, but that will quickly fade.

We let patients know that the full effect of a BOTOX treatment can take seven days to two weeks. During this time, it is best to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications, especially prior to the treatment.
